Rapp’s termination follows her being the subject of criticism from certain groups via social media several weeks ago, the two are absolutely not related. On March 30th, Rapp posted a tweet announcing her employment with Nintendo had been terminated, while members of GamerGhazi again accused GG of harassment, Nintendo of America claimed that the reason she was fired has to do with neither the ongoing controversy nor her opinions on pedophiles, the official reason is that she has been violating the company’s internal policy by “moonlighting” with a second job as a prostitute: "Alison Rapp was terminated due to violation of an internal company policy involving holding a second job in conflict with Nintendo’s corporate culture. Even though GG supporters claimed that the campaign was led by members of the /revolt/ board on 8chan. They also accused Jamie Walton of being tricked by, or was an active part of, GamerGate. Her defenders (such as Kotaku and IGDA) took the bait and contended that her personal beliefs should not matter, and sticked to the overused lie that this was merely a coordinated GamerGate attack to remove a woman from the video games industry. She'd desperately tried pinning the blame on "white-supremacists" (Um, aren't you white yourself?) and (as always) GamerGaters. However Eron Gjoni, writer of the Zoe Post, criticized protesters for their aggressiveness, stating that “Attempting to get people fired for holding problematic views is exactly the sort of thing you’re supposed to be against.”Īlison Rapp, in return, used the classic SJW tactic of self-victimizing. Blogger Ethan Ralph advised anyone who have children to petition Nintendo personally until Alison Rapp is fired, claiming that “Advocates of child pornography should not be working at a place like Nintendo in any capacity whatsoever.” Jamie Walton of the Wayne Foundation tweeted that she had reported Rapp to her supervisors and that they would take action.

This caused many to call for Rapp’s termination from Nintendo. Although no evidence of Rapp herself being pedophile was found, they reached the conclusion that Rapp not only defends the possession of child pornography and the pedophiles who possess it, but also media portraying abused children and that she also supports child sexual agency and lowering the age of consent. The article also highlighted a tweet by Rapp expressing frustration over the police for arresting a man possessing child pornography.Īfter the article was published, numerous Twitter users began combing through Rapp’s tweets, trying to figure out her stance. On February 25th, 2016, an article titled “ Nintendo’s Public Relations Employee Alison Rapp Now Vocal for Pedophiles” was posted on Medium, the article reported that Rapp penned an essay for Augsburg College titled “ Speech We Hate: An Argument for the Cessation of International Pressure on Japan to Strengthen Its Anti-Child Pornography Laws” where she called for “less strict legislation” against the possession of child pornography and that Japan’s consent laws were influenced by “western imperialism”.
